About Roshni

Roshni

Roshni is a Hindi word for light filled. Our vineyard is south facing in Willamette Valley’s McMinnville AVA. Deepak a Doctor and Sinclair a writer are passionate growers.
We have seven planted acres of Pinot Noir and one acre of Chardonnay with more to come. Several of our Pinot Noir blocks are thirty plus years old.

Our first vintage was 2017 and our Pinot Noir and Chardonnay have won several local medals and scored in the 90s in Wine Enthusiast and from James Suckling.
Roshni now has a tasting room overlooking the vineyard where guests can enjoy expansive valley views while tasting Roshni wines. Tastings include a customized charcuterie board and lavish love from our vineyard dog, Chai. In between vintage information and tasting notes, co-owner Sinclair might hit you up for an opinion about the latest romance novel she’s writing or wine country set mystery series she’s currently scheming.

Deepak and Sinclair Sawhney discovered the Willamette Valley on a scouting trip to find wines for their upcoming wedding more than twenty years ago. Seattlites, they fell in love with wine and the topography and lifestyle of the Willamette Valley. They returned annually, visiting a couple of tasting rooms on the way to Cannon Beach and hitting up a couple more on the way back. And each visit they would stop on a gravel road, look around and ask: “When are we moving?”

Ten years ago we packed up and never looked back. While Roshni sells the bulk of our grapes to a variety of local vineyards, we hold back about three tons of our old growth vines to make a Pinot Noir Rose, an estate Pinot Noir and a Pinot Noir Reserve. Chardonnay and Sparkling are in the mix. And two fallow acres are teasing us, daring us to plant a few more vines of our dream favorites.
